greevey will be our guest, georgia congresswoman tom price and florida congresswoman debbie wasserman schultz joins us. it's tuesday, november 13th, "starting point" begins right now. >>> morning, welcome, everybody. our "starting point" this morning. breaking news. another top military general has now been linked to the sex scandal that forced out cia director david petraeus. forced him to resign. general john allen, the commander of u.s. and nato forces in afghanistan is now under investigation for alleged inappropriate communications with jill kelley. now investigators are said to be looking into the 20,000 to 30,000 pages of e-mails and other documents that he sent to her. kelley, of course, is the florida woman whose original complaint to the fbi about threatening e-mails inadvertently exposed the affair between general petraeus and paula broadwell. meantime a team of fbi agents searched broadwell's home in charlotte, north carolina, overnight, and spent nearly five hours there wrapping up just after 1:00 in the morning. "wall street journal" is reporting that the fbi agent who launched the petra

petraeus when he was the head in tampa bay, florida in 2010. jill kelley a well-known socialite in tampa bay, married to a, reunient surgeon and she hosted parties for top military brass at central command and would shop with general petraeus' wife holly, their families spent christmas together, and allen exchanged hundreds of e-mails that were 20,000 to 30,000 pages long when printed out with jill kelley and many characterized as being flirtatious but not security-related or dealing with government contracts, her end froms say they were harmless and might have included sweetheart here and there and allen insists he did not have a sexual affair with jill kelley and paula broadwell has hired an attorney. and her father told the newspaper that this is about something else entirely and the truth will come out. there is a lot more that going to come out. you wait-and-see. there is a lot more than meets the eye. she went running this morning but has not spoken to the press. >>shepard: we have learned that both of the generals bought involved with a custody dispute with jill kelly's sister. wh
-mails sent between general allen and jill kelly down in florida between 2010 and 2012. so right up until this year. i'm told the e-mails were inappropriate in nature and now the inspector general here at the pentagon is looking through those to see what exactly is contained. here's what secretary leon panetta said about the future of general john allen in a statement while he was traveling to california. he said, "while this matter is under investigation and before the facts are determined, general allen will remain commander of isaf. the secretary asked the president and the president has agreed to put his nomination on hold until the relevant facts are determined." what you don't hear in that statement is what followed in that the pentagon is asking that his successor in afghanistan, general joseph dunford that his nomination be fast tracked and pushed along as quickly as possible. >> ayou mention the 20,000 to 30,000 pages of e-mails. that's just, as i said, stunning. when we're talking about the petraeus side of this investigation, the time line is very important. adultery is a crimi
, the florida socialite whose concern over threatening e-mails led to an investigation that revealed an affair between cia director david petraeus and his biographer, paula broadwell. a pentagon official told reporters allen who commands the war in afghanistan is adamant he did nothing wrong. a senior official close to allen tells cnn of kelly there is no affair, she's a bored socialite. a u.s. official says there appears to be nothing criminal involved. but allen is now under investigation for what is called inappropriately flirtatious e-mails to kelly. >> secretary directed it be referred to inspector general of department of defense. >> the fbi found up to 35,000 pages of documents, some dating back two years during the investigation. according to a senior official close to allen, one message the afghan commander sent warned kelly she had been threatened. the official says allen had received an anonymous message, now believed to be from broadwell. the pentagon was called in because allen is subject to military law. but why did this only come out now in public view? >> we have a large amount

just received this video, this is jill kelly leaving her family's home in tampa, florida, earlier this afternoon. let's turn to suzanne kelly, our cnn intelligence correspondent. suzanne, jill kelly went to the fbi sometime late last summer saying, she had gotten some harassing e-mails, how did those e-mails lead to the sexual affair that undid david petraeus? >> a government source who is familiar with the investigation confirms to cnn the fbi probe that led to that resignation of the director on friday was announced after jill kelly contacted them about e-mail she said she received and she thought was threatening. and it turned out to be from paula broadwell. the source says the e-mail was jealous in tone but did not know more about the content of it or if there was more than one e-mail. the source said kelly went to the fbi in tampa where she lives and despite living in tampa, capitol hill has been known to be on the washington social circuit. according to this government source who had actually met her at a washington party, ted. >> now, is there any suggestion that the relati
